A low, tufted ottoman that sits in line with the sofa or on its own, as a footstool, a seat or a coffee table with a tray. The cushions are deep and soft, and the low base keeps the whole piece close to the floor, which is what gives it its relaxed, sculptural look.

It suits a large living room, a media room or a loft, and it works as well in the middle of a room as against a wall. Choose a pale rug and a plain wall, and let the sofa be the soft, rounded thing in the room.
