Buying accent chairs in pairs is generally the right advice, and there are places where it is simply not possible. A dressing table needs one chair. A desk needs one chair. A bedroom corner or a bay window often has room for one and not two.
This is the same chair as the two-piece set elsewhere in this collection, sold individually for exactly those situations. At 44.5cm high it is deliberately low — the correct height for a dressing table or a low desk rather than a standing-height surface — and at 54.6cm square it takes up very little of a room that has none to spare.

Choosing a chair for a dressing table or desk
Height first, always
The gap between the seat and the underside of the surface should be 25–30cm. Measure your dressing table or desk height and subtract.
A standard desk at 75cm wants a 45–50cm seat. A dressing table at 76cm wants the same. A low vanity at 70cm wants a 40–45cm seat.
Backed or backless?
Backless stools tuck fully under, which matters in a small bedroom, and they are lighter to move. Backed chairs are considerably more comfortable for anything taking more than five minutes.
If you sit at a dressing table for twenty minutes in the morning, buy the back.
Arms are usually wrong here
Arms stop a chair pushing fully under the surface, and at a dressing table or desk they get in the way of your elbows. Armless or very low arms.
Depth and the wall behind
A chair pushed under a table still needs somewhere to be when pulled out. Allow 60cm of clear floor behind the surface — the constraint people forget in small bedrooms.
And do not use a dining chair
It is the most common substitution and the least comfortable one. Dining chairs are built for 90-degree upright sitting at a specific height, and neither of those suits a dressing table.
